Gina Quatman Celebration of Life

Gina Elizabeth Nieporte-Quatman passed away peacefully on Monday June 24, 2019.  She was surrounded by her family. Gina accomplished many achievements during her years, but none were as important as enjoying being a wife and mother.

Gina was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2016. She waited until the summer to have a mastectomy in order to get her daughter Kaiya off to her Freshman year of college.  A few weeks after the surgery Gina and her husband discovered that she was pregnant. Having gone undetected prior to the operation the baby managed to survive and Gina was faced with the challenge of being pregnant with cancer.  She subsequently contacted Hope For Two in effort to connect with people for support and guidance during the uncertain time. In response to her request, Gina was matched with a Volunteer Support Woman who was similarly diagnosed, as well as Dr. Elyce Cardonick, a board certified OBGYN who is widely considered the leading expert on pregnancy and cancer.  Dr. Cardonick worked with Gina’s oncologist to help plan out a treatment plan that would provide Gina with the treatment for her cancer and allow for Gina to have a healthy pregnancy.

On April 13th, 2017, Gina and her husband Kevin welcomed into the world a healthy baby boy named Maximus. At all times following the birth of her child, Gina’s highest priority was being a wife, as well as a mother to her children.

Kevin has informed us that Hope for Two helped their family bring their son Max into the world. Gina’s love for Max drove Gina to fight even harder when she was later given a terminal diagnosis (leptomeningeal) with the breast cancer metastasizing into her brain and spinal fluid. The initial prognosis of 4 to 8 weeks but Gina blew expectations out of the water by continuing to raise Max for over 13 months.

Hope For Two has been honored to be notified that Gina and her husband have decided that they would like all possible donations in her honor to be sent to Hope For Two. In response to this gracious request, we have created this fundraiser so that anyone who is interested in donating may do so here.

We thank Kevin and his family for thinking of us during this difficult time.
